Who We Treat
While all
youth served in the program have at least one primary psychiatric
diagnosis, many have several psychiatric disorders as well as other
challenges such as mental retardation, physical or sexual abuse
and/or neglect victimization, substance abuse problems, and/or
co-occurring medical conditions. Additionally, many of these youth
come to us with histories of serious high-risk behaviors such as
attempt to self-harm, attempts to commit suicide, assaultive
behavior, running away, etc. This hospital serves children and
adolescents’ ages 4-18, with separate programs (separate rooms,
living areas, and schedules/services) for children (ages 4-12) and
adolescents (ages 12-18). Youth admitted to this program meet
medical necessity criteria for inpatient psychiatric
hospitalization due to multiple factors including psychiatric
diagnoses, high-risk behavior, imminent danger to self or others,
suicidal or homicidal ideation/intent, etc.
